This index presents historical and modern wars and conflicts taking place in the present territory of, or relating to, Serbia. Serbia is one of the successor states to emerge from the collapse of Yugoslavia. The territory had been part of the Yugoslav state since 1918. It was recognized as the independent state of Serbia from 1878 to World War I. The territory was under Ottoman rule previously.
