This index presents historical and modern wars and conflicts taking place in the present territory of, or relating to, Rwanda. Rwanda gained independence from Belgium in 1961. The territory had been assigned to Germany as part of German East Africa in 1884 and it was occupied in 1916 by Belgium, during World War I.
