This index presents historical and modern wars and conflicts taking place in the present territory of, or relating to, Panama. Panama achieved independence from Spain in 1821 as part of Gran Colombia. It remained part of Colombia after Gran Colombia dissolved in 1830. Panama seceded from Colombia, with American backing, in 1903.
