This index presents historical and modern wars and conflicts taking place in the present territory of, or relating to, Austria. Austria is one of the successor states to the Austrian (from 1868 Austria-Hungary) Empire, one of the great powers of the 19th century and earlier, broken up after World War I. It was annexed by Germany in 1938 and occupied by Allied powers after World War II; the occupation ended in 1955.
