Assassination of William McKinley 1901

Anarchist Leon Czolgosz assassinated American president William McKinley (shot September 6, died September 16) at the Buffalo Pan-American Exposition; Czolgosz was quickly executed (October 29). Vice President Theodore Roosevelt succeeded to the presidency.
