Tunisian War of Independence 1952-1956

In 1952 a guerrilla war of independence against the French began in Tunisia, led by Habib Bourguiba.

In 1956, winning a struggle for independence from France, Tunisia became an independent state, the Republic of Tunisia (March 20), led by its first president, Habib Bourguiba (1956-87).
