Ifole Riots of 1867

Also called Housebreaking Riots, there was a further dispute between the Egba and the British over customs dues and the presence of Lagos police on Egba territory. Egba hostility erupted in the ifole ('housebreaking') riots of 1867, after which both European missionaries and merchants were excluded from the town for fifteen years.
