Independence Revolt in Chile 1810

Led by Jose Miguel Carrera and Bernardo O'Higgins, Chile declared itself an independent nation but was once again taken by Spain after a Spanish army defeated O'Higgin's forces at Rancagua (October 7); he and his remaining forces fled to Argentina.
