[I]n 1885 Geronimo and his followers broke away again and returned to plundering. But constant harassment by US forces led to their surrender a year later. Geronimo and other Apache were sent to a federal prison in Florida. Later Geronimo was allowed to return to the West, where he lived out his life near Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
