This index presents historical and modern wars and conflicts taking place in the present territory of, or relating to, Sudan. Sudan became independent of Egypt and the United Kingdom in 1956. In practice the territory had been British colony since 1899. The Ottoman Empire had nominal suzerainty over the territory earlier in the 19th century.
